Mizoram is often referred to as one the most peaceful states in the country.In a manner befitting of such a reputation, there has never been a major breakdown of Law & Order in the District the district since the inception of the State of Mizoram.However, owing to the uneven population ratio, Aizawl district handles more than 50% of the crime incidents in the state. The majority of the crimes committed are petty theft, burglaries and cases under MLTP Act. Being the administrative nerve centre of the state, processions, agitations and demonstrations organized by different interest group also pose a challenge to the law and order situation in the district.However, there is a wellequipped police force to deal with these challenges.
